A Data Use Policy is not needed by most companies or sites, but is really a new and more involved type of privacy policy combined with a terms of service used by social networks such as Facebook. Since they collect massive amounts of personal data from site members including not only email address, physical address, DOB – but also photographs and even personal video. If your site does not do any of these things, you probably do not need such an involved policy – however, always consult with a qualified legal advisor prior to making such a decision.
